ROCKY LARSON

Rocky Larson has been involved in softball since moving to Calgary in 1990 from Regina, primarily as a coach and as an administrator. As a coach, he has led various age groups from U16 to Senior A Women. Over this period, he has won 14 provincial gold medals and 6 silver medals as well as 3 bronze medals in Western Canadians.

Rocky has been involved administratively with every association he has been a part of, from serving on their board to being involved with skill development clinics and player evaluations. He served on the CWFA Tournament Committee for 15 years as the draw master, among other tasks.

Rocky was also involved with Team Canada from 1999-2004 as a team leader, evaluator, guest coach and scout. In his team leader role, he was part of both the Senior National Team and the Junior National Team assisting in the preparation for World Championships and Olympic Games competition.

    • Bronze at Canadians in 2013 with Lloyd Rebels
    • Silver at Canadians in 2015 with Alberta Warriors
  • Bantam A: Gold in 2012, Silver in 2011
  • Senior B: Gold in 1999, 2004-2006 & 2008-2009, Silver in 2003 & 2007 and Bronze in 2017
    • Westerns Gold in 2007 & 2009 with Calgary Silver Mountain Thunder
    • Westerns Silver in 2006 & 2008 with Calgary Silver Mountain Thunder
    • Westerns Bronze in 1999, 2003 & 2004 with Calgary Silver Mountain Thunder
  • Midget B: Gold in 1992 & 1994 plus Westerns Bronze in 1994 (Southfour Red Sox)

Rocky was also awarded Softball Canada and Softball Alberta Coach of the Year in 2003 and Calgary Booster Club Award in 2008. He was Assistant Coach for Team Alberta in the 2013 Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke, QC and also took part in the Western Canada Summer Games program. He was Head Coach in 2003 for the Games in Selkirk, MB and Assistant Coach in 2011 for the Games in Kamloops, BC.

Inducted as a Sport Builder in 2023.
