VIVIAN KORTGAARD

Vivian Kortgaard, of Sedgwick, was a quiet yet stellar player throughout her 18 year career – winning several Provincial, Western Canadian and Dominion titles (Canadian Championships). Although primarily a catcher, she was a versatile player that could easily adjust to any infield position. She was very talented in calling pitches, and threw with great accuracy. Kortgaard was a soft-spoken team leader, and was highly respected by teammates. Upon retiring from play, Kortgaard coached the Premier Steel team and led them to three Provincial Titles in the 1960’s.
