SAFE SPORT

Softball Alberta is committed to a safe and positive softball experience for all members within our association. You are the heart of sport — its energy, its passion, and its future. As you push boundaries, break records, and inspire communities, remember that true greatness begins with safety, respect, and integrity.

Safe sport is not just a policy — it’s a promise.
A promise that every participant, regardless of age, background, or level, deserves to train, compete, and thrive in an environment free from abuse, discrimination, and harm.

We need your support to promote these important values by showing respect among the sport community and to report situations where the conduct of someone is not respectful of these values.

Your voice matters. Your actions matter.
By standing up for safe sport, you’re not only protecting yourself — you’re protecting your teammates, your sport, and the generations to come.

Be informed. Be involved. Be a leader.
Speak up. Support others. Demand accountability. Together, we can build a culture where safety is the standard, not the exception.

Let’s make sport a place where everyone feels empowered, respected, and safe — always.

Anyone who witnesses or experiences inappropriate behavior in our organization’s environment can report it in complete confidentiality.

Participants, employees, members, community and partners now have access to a reporting platform operated by our external partner, ALIAS.

Every report is received and handled by ALIAS, the independent provider. Softball Alberta is engaged only as required by policy (e.g., jurisdiction or implementing an outcome). Our goal is to prevent and address misconduct, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all.

When you click the “Report a Complaint” button:

You will be linked immediately to an independent third-party service, called ALIAS where you will fill out the online complaint form. ALIAS will contact the complainant within 48 working hours; receivability conclusion target ≈ 10 business days (may flex based on party availability).

The staff of ALIAS are experienced in helping victims of maltreatment AND professionally and personally independent of Softball Alberta. They know and understand Softball Alberta’s Safe Sport policies. They are qualified and experienced in navigating complaints of MALTREATMENT.

ALIAS does not handle association/club level complaints or concerns involving procedure, team selection, suspensions, game or misconduct reports, plying time allotments or other complaint/concerns of this nature. These complaints should be sent to your local association/club according to their policies.

If you are unsure if your complaint constitutes MALTREATMENT, please review the Alberta Universal Code of Conduct (AB UCC) and the Softball Alberta Code of Conduct & Discipline and Complaints Policy.

Softball Alberta abides by the Alberta Universal Code of Conduct (AB UCC) to guide the organization, our members, and our organizational participants in ensuring the safety and well-being of those associated with the sport of Softball.

Each person has a responsibility to help keep the sport safe. Reports of MALTREATMENT that come to the attention of any Softball Alberta Staff will be directed to contact ALIAS using the “Report a Complaint” button.

By providing you with this service, Softball Alberta is reaffirming its commitment to protect its members by providing a safe and positive environment within the programs, business, activities and events of the Organization.
