Sheena Lawrick < BACK

Sheena Lawrick was born and raised in Calgary and started her fastpitch softball career in 1990 at the age of 6 years playing for the Continental West Little League “Angels” (Coach Pitch). She continued her minor softball career playing as an under-age player in each age category. Sheena continued her minor softball career with the Renegades, including 4 years of Midget.

During her 4 years of Midget with the Renegades, Sheena helped her team represent Alberta at the Canadian Girls Midget Championships. Sheena was a 2 time all-star at these championships and led the tournament in hitting in 2002 with a .671 batting average. She also represented Softball Alberta as a member of the 1999 Western Canada Summer Games team in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan where the team captured a silver medal and she lead the team in hitting with a .620 average. In 1998 and 1999, Sheena was selected to an All Star team from the Calgary Women’s Fastpitch Association to compete against Chinese Taipei and Japanese teams on tour. The following year, Sheena was named the 2000 Softball Alberta Minor Female Player of the Year.

International Individual Awards:
• 2012 World Championship – Tournament All Star
• 2012 World Championship – Tournament leader in hits (11) and hit for (.500) average
• 2010 World Championship – Tournament leader in hits and 2nd in batting average (.611)
• 2007 Canada Cup International Tournament – 1st Team All Star
• 2006 Canada Cup International Tournament – 1st Team All Star
• 2005 US World Cup – drove in the 2 RBI’s to beat Team USA. Marked the first international loss for Team USA since 2002

International Team Awards:
• 2012 Team Canada – World Championship – 4th place – Whitehorse, Yukon
• 2010 Team Canada – World Championship – Bronze Medal – Caracas, Venezuela
• 2009 Team Canada – Pan Am Games – Silver Medal – Maracay, Venezuela
• 2008 Team Canada – Summer Olympic Games – 4th Place – Beijing, China
• 2007 Team Canada – Pan Am Games – Silver Medal – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
• 2006 World Championship – 5th Place – Beijing, China
• 2005 Team Canada – Pan Am Games – Silver Medal – Guatemala City, Guatemala
• 2004 Team Canada – Summer Olympic Games - Athens, Greece
• 2003 Team Canada – Pan Am Games – Silver Medal – Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
• 2003 Team Canada – Olympic Qualifier – Gold Medal

The aforementioned credentials and accomplishments, plus many more, are a testament to Sheena Lawrick’s outstanding 28 year softball career. She contributed substantially to every team she played for. Her contribution to the sport of softball provincially, nationally and internationally, is outstanding.

Sheena Lawrick exemplifies a softball career which, unquestionably, deserves induction into the Softball Alberta Hall of Fame.

Inducted as an Athlete in 2014.
